SPLENDID est une installation performative librement inspirée de la pièce de théâtre Splendid's de Jean Genet. Sept performeurs reprennent des allures nonchalantes, provocantes, fantasmées, de sept gangsters enfermés dans un huis clos. L'espace – hybride d'une suite d'hôtel de luxe décadente et d'un show room d'art contemporain – est conçu à l'image d'un naufrage ou d'un miroir brisé, où des fragments de décor – mobilier, projections vidéo, accessoires, costumes - offrent un canevas pour les performeurs en même temps qu'ils reflètent leur condition : la protention à une figure mythique et mythifiée qui n'est finalement qu'un jeu d'apparences et d'emprunts.

SPLENDID a été créé dans le cadre d'une carte blanche de l'espace d'art Listrik à Montreux entre juin et juillet 2017 ; la performance a été présentée lors du vernissage de Slowly vanishing... feathers ! Glittered and burned. et l'installation post-performance est restée visible pendant l’intégralité de l'exposition.

SPLENDID is a performative installation freely inspired by Jean Genet's play Splendid. Seven performers take on the nonchalant, provocative, fantasized look of seven gangsters locked up behind closed doors. The hybrid space of a decadent luxury hotel suite and a contemporary art showroom is conceived as a sinking or as a broken mirror, where fragments of decor - furniture , video projections, props, costumes - offer a canvas for the performers at the same time as they reflect their condition: tending to a mythical and mythified figure which reveals to be a game about borrowings appearances.

 

SPLENDID was created as part of a carte blanche of Listrik art space in Montreux between June and July 2017; the performance was presented during the opening of Slowly vanishing ... feathers! Glittered and burned. and the post-performance installation remained visible during the entire exhibition.
